Various works have recently been carried out in the Juliana Canal to improve the waterway and make it future-proof.
The canal has been widened in several places to facilitate smoother shipping traffic and accommodate larger vessels. In addition, the banks have been reinforced and the flood defences have been modified in some sections to better withstand high water levels. Work has also been done to improve the ecological value of the canal, including the construction of nature-friendly banks and fish passages. These works contribute to a safer, more efficient and more sustainable waterway for the future.
